Continental Drifts

Experiential and brand events

The experts in brand experience and marketing, The Continental Drifts production team have produced projects ranging from the most bizarre and politically challenging to the most high profile and adventurous.

Prepared to handle projects of any size, Continental Drifts can offer support from the creative brainstorming stage, advising on the production and technical implications of even the most ambitious creatives. Continental Drifts can then provide a complete event management service including licensing, health and safety, site management, reliable subcontractors (sound, staging, lighting, power), event administration and professional site crew, security and promotional staff.

Silk Cut Stunt

A live stunt to mark the end to Tobacco Advertising that took inspiration from the infamous  print campaign created by M&C Saatchi featuring an opera singer dressed in purple silk with the strapline “it’s not over until the fat lady sings!” – to mark the impending ban. Working in collaboration with Cunning this advert was brought to life on a float, which was designed and dressed by Continental Drifts’s in house décor team.
Continental Drifts then worked on the production of a one day guerrilla tour of London, taking the promotional vehicle to key locations such as the Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square and Oxford Street, with the Opera singer sourced by Continental Drifts singing continuously on the custom made moving stage.

Channel Four Hay on Wye

Hired by Woof Pr and Channel Four, Continental Drifts were invited to create a live tangible version of the famous sequence of Channel Four adverts, where the Channel Four logo appears and disappears within different landscapes, at the Hay On Wye Festival in Wales.

Working with Woof PR and Channel Four from the creative stages, producing a comprehensive package of different ideas and their costings based on the landscape and materials available in the immediate area of the festival. Working to a limited budget, The event team ensured that a good range of options were available at different prices. Following several creative meetings site visits with key suppliers were arranged to ensure that all the chosen site art projects were logistically feasible and could be carried out within the tight time and budget restrictions.

Working with natural materials proved a significant challenge, however with the landscaping specialists and dedicated crew, the final artwork was stunning and attracted a lot of attention over the course of the festival.

Smart car Selfridges

Continental Drifts were commissioned by Daimler Chrysler to design and produce the Christmas shop window for Selfridges and Smart Car. Two painted smart cars were placed into the shop window and we created a stunning environment incorporating mirrors, intelligent lighting and working around the funky, yet 21st century feel of the brand. Continental Drifts had to negotiate all relevant permissions and materials for the event including the removal and reinstallation of the shop window itself. The install happened overnight and was in place for shoppers to view the following morning. ‘The best window on Oxford Street.’ Radio 1
